Research Use Only Policy

Everything Atlas Labs sells is supplied for laboratory research use only. This page is the canonical statement of that restriction: who may buy, what buyers attest to at checkout, and what these materials may never be used for.

This policy is draft text written for the design prototype. It has not been reviewed by qualified counsel and is not yet binding. Do not rely on it, and do not publish it in this form. Contact us if you need the reviewed version before it lands.

Scope

This policy applies to every product listed on this website, to every order placed through it, and to every account registered with Atlas Labs. It applies alongside the Terms of Service and the disclaimer that appears in the footer of every page. Where a product page, a certificate of analysis, or a marketing statement appears to conflict with this policy, this policy governs.

Atlas Labs is a research supply company. We are not a pharmacy, a medical provider, or a compounding facility, and we do not hold registration as an outsourcing facility. Nothing on this site is medical advice or a protocol of any kind.

Who may purchase

Orders may only be placed by qualified researchers and by institutions that carry out laboratory work, including:

  • Academic and university research groups.
  • Hospital, government, and non-profit research laboratories.
  • Commercial research and analytical laboratories.
  • Individuals with the training, facilities, and institutional oversight required to handle research chemicals safely and lawfully.

Purchasers must be at least 18 years old (or the age of majority where they live, if that is higher) and must have the authority to bind the institution named on the order. We may ask for institutional affiliation, a laboratory address, or other verification before we release an order, and we may decline any order we cannot verify.

Bulk and institutional accounts

Volume orders and purchase orders are handled through Volume Pricing, which carries its own verification step for approved laboratories and institutions.

The checkout attestation

Checkout cannot be completed until the research-use attestation in the cart is confirmed. The checkout button stays disabled until the box is ticked, on every path to payment, on every page of this site.

The attestation you are agreeing to

I confirm these products are for laboratory research use only and will not be used on humans or animals.

Confirming that box is a representation you make to Atlas Labs. It is recorded against the order and stored with it. If the representation is untrue, the order is placed in breach of this policy and of the Terms of Service.

Permitted use

Materials supplied by Atlas Labs may be used only for in vitro laboratory research and analytical work carried out by qualified personnel in an appropriate facility — for example as reference material, as an analytical standard, or as a reagent in bench experiments.

Any use beyond that is outside the scope of the supply. We describe what a compound is and how a lot was tested. We do not describe what it does in a living organism, and we do not supply protocols, quantities, or schedules of use.

Prohibited uses

The following are prohibited without exception:

  • No human use. No administration to, or use in or on, any person, including the purchaser.
  • No veterinary or animal use. No administration to any animal, whether companion, livestock, or otherwise.
  • No ingestion, injection, inhalation, infusion, or topical application by or to any person or animal, in any quantity, by any route.
  • No diagnostic use. These materials are not diagnostics and may not be used to diagnose, screen, monitor, or make any determination about the health of a person or animal.
  • No therapeutic, preventative, or cosmetic use of any kind, and no use in a clinical trial or in any investigation involving human or animal subjects.
  • No food, beverage, supplement, or personal-care use, and no incorporation into any product intended for consumption or bodily application.
  • No use in the manufacture of a drug product, compounded preparation, or any article intended for administration.
  • No unlawful use, including any use prohibited by the laws of the purchaser's jurisdiction or by the rules of the purchaser's institution.

These prohibitions apply to the purchaser, to anyone acting on the purchaser's behalf, and to anyone to whom the purchaser gives access to the material.

No resale, repackaging, or redistribution

Materials are supplied to the named purchaser for that purchaser's own research. Unless Atlas Labs has authorised it in writing, you may not:

  • Resell, offer for sale, or advertise the material, in original or altered form.
  • Repackage, relabel, dilute, reconstitute for supply, aliquot for supply, or otherwise prepare the material for onward distribution.
  • Remove, obscure, or alter any label, lot number, or research-use marking on a vial or its packaging.
  • Transfer the material to a third party who has not accepted this policy.

Transfers within a single research institution, to colleagues working under the same oversight and on the same research, are permitted provided the recipient is made aware of this policy and the material stays in its original labelled container.

Handling, storage, and disposal

Handling is the purchaser's responsibility from the moment a shipment is delivered. Materials should be treated as research chemicals of unknown hazard and handled with the personal protective equipment, containment, and controls your institution requires.

  • Storage guidance for each lot is printed on its certificate of analysis and shown on the product page. Storage outside those conditions invalidates the stability window on the certificate.
  • Sealed vials should be inspected on arrival. Do not use a vial that is chipped, cracked, or has a compromised seal.
  • Materials must be stored securely, labelled clearly, and kept out of reach of anyone not authorised to handle them, and away from food, drink, and personal-care items.
  • Disposal must follow your institution's chemical waste procedures and all applicable local rules. Do not dispose of research material in domestic waste or to drain.

Full quality, testing, and stability detail is published under Quality Procedures.

Your compliance obligation

You are responsible for determining whether you may lawfully purchase, import, possess, and use a given material where you are, and for obtaining every licence, permit, registration, and institutional approval that applies. Atlas Labs does not make that determination for you and cannot advise on it.

Import and customs compliance for orders shipped outside the United States is the purchaser's responsibility, including any duties, restrictions, or documentation the destination country requires. See Shipping & Returns for how we handle destinations we cannot serve.

You agree to indemnify Atlas Labs against any claim arising from your use, misuse, storage, transfer, or disposal of material supplied to you, as set out in the Terms of Service.

Enforcement

Atlas Labs may refuse or cancel any order, at any time and without giving reasons, including where we believe an order is intended for a prohibited use. We may also close an account, decline future orders, and where the law requires it, report an order to the relevant authority.

Refusing or cancelling an order under this section does not make Atlas Labs liable for any loss arising from the refusal. Where an order is cancelled before dispatch, payment is released back to the original payment method.
